Practical habits that can reduce your risk when visiting crypto websites, connecting wallets and verifying token information.

Protect the keys to your wallet

Your recovery phrase and private key can control access to your assets. A legitimate website does not need them in order for you to connect a normal crypto wallet.

Rule to remember: never type a seed phrase or private key into a website because someone tells you it is required to “verify,” “sync,” “unlock,” or “restore” a wallet.

Lookalike domains

Small spelling changes can create convincing fake websites. Check the full domain before interacting.

Unexpected messages

Be cautious with unsolicited DMs that offer support, urgent claims or special access.

Blind approvals

Do not approve wallet requests you do not understand. Read what the wallet is asking you to sign.
